Cheshire Prize For Literature 2020 - Rose Walker shortlisted

Very pleased to find out that I’ve been shortlisted for the Cheshire Prize For Literature 2020.

My script is called ‘Rose Walker’ – a short play about a couple working from home during lockdown. It’s partially inspired by my better half and I spending chunks of 2020 cooped up on our laptops together... and when I say ‘partially’ I mean ‘absolutely 100%’. In fact, there’s so much of Hannah in there that I have little choice but to split the prize money with her if it wins - so going forward I’m going to exercise more creativity with my characters...

The winners will be announced in late June, at an awards evening in Chester’s beautiful Storyhouse (which fully reopens next week!). Rose Walker will be published in the Cheshire Prize For Literature Anthology in October. If it does win, I will also endeavour to record it... because who wants to read a script other than us geeks?

While I’m posting: On an entirely unrelated note... I am jumping out of a plane next week. It’s a fundraiser for Wood Street Mission, who protect children in poverty in Manchester, and promote reading to increase literacy and life chances. If you fancy making a donation, it is very much appreciated, and can be done here!

Keep safe and only hug sensibly (whatever that means) x
